Madurai Medical College is a premier institution founded in 02.08.1954 by the Tamil Nadu Govt.
The institution started offering Pharmacy programmes by first offering Diploma in Pharmacy in the year 1960,
Bachelors of Pharmacy in 1963 and Masters of Pharmacy in the year 1978. The doctoral programme was recently added.
The Dept. of Pharmacy was changed to College of Pharmacy, Madurai Medical College,
Madurai in the year 2008 and is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and is affiliated to the TN Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai.
The college of Pharmacy exclusively comprises of Departments such as Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry,
Department of Pharmaceutics, and Department of Pharmacognosy.
Currently almost 230 pharmacy students pass out of College of Pharmacy, Madurai, every year, which includes Diploma students, Degree Students and Post Graduates.
There are about 3000 Pharmacy Alumni who have passed out of Madurai Medical College.
They are spread across the globe and have established successful careers in their respective fields such as teaching,
Research and Development, Manufacturing, Community Pharmacy, entrepreneurship, etc.
There are a considerable number of alumni who live overseas and have contributed to the development of
the respective field they belong to, as well as the Indian Diaspora in various countries such as USA, Canada,
Middle East Countries, etc.
PAA will reach out to them and facilitate interactive active sessions between
them and the current students, which we expect, would help the students in a big way in charting their career paths.
